Duck Hunter

Duck hunting season in Texas ends this weekend, so it’s only fitting that I post this miniature oil that Mom painted in 1977 for the First National Bank of Gorman.

I don’t know the actual dimensions of this work, but it was so small that she didn’t sign the work, she simply left her initials (just above and to the left of the duck in the foreground).   Still, there is amazing detail in this little scene, from the ripples on the water to the brim of the hunter’s cap.

I have no idea where this painting is today.
